Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Brainstorm Monster characterization. Using the monster characterization sheet, “interview” your monster. In small groups, share your information. HW: Create a scene where your monster is revealed. Make sure you use words and imagery that reflect the atmosphere of the scene. 5th day free write is due Monday, Sept 19 (1 & 5 oral), or Tuesday, Sept. 20 (2 oral). Work on writer’s notebook.
English 10 Honors ~ Begin with a 10-minute SSR. Take the Character quiz. Hand-in “The Bet” worksheet and discuss as a class. Discuss the plot of “The Bet” and the life of Anton Chekhov. Review Point-of-View slides. Discuss the life of Sandra Cisneros. Read “The House on Mango Street.” Complete the worksheet on Mango Street. HW: Finish “The House on Mango Street” and the worksheet.
