“Always get the damn weather in your writing. The weather is very important.” ~Ernest Hemingway
Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Distribute the Dumb Laws handout. Ms. Wood will share a script based on the dumb law of “Displaying the bodies of notorious criminals at carnivals.” So, which dumb law will you write a script about? The premise can be either 1. What would happen today if somebody did this and the dumb law was enforced or 2. What happened back in the day that made this become a law? You may work on your own or with a partner. Next class you will complete the script and share your idea or script with the class! HW: Writer’s Notebook.
Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Continue creating two spreads. You may work with a partner in completing your spreads. Each spread MUST have at least one element of unity and three points of interest. Use the style sheet and helpful tips. You may browse other magazines for design ideas. Remember, all spreads should be an even number of pages. This week’s and next week’s late nights from 4 to 6 PM are on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evening. You must attend three late nights before Spring Break.
