Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write.  Distribute fiction workshop pieces.  Compile fiction workshop assignments using the chart.  Review workshop etiquette.  Begin fiction workshop: offer positives and suggestions for improvement both written as well as vocally.  HW: Read and critique group #1 pieces.

Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write.  Assign workshop groups.  Use the Mini-WS Gothic Fiction self-assessment to critique your own work and mini-ws participation.  Use the Mini-WS Peer critique rubric to assess your peers’ writing.  Read each piece and offer positives and suggestions for improvement both written as well as vocally.  HW: Read the Poe pieces and complete WS: “The City in the Sea,”A Dream Within a Dream,” “Eldorado,” “Alone.”  Make revisions to your gothic fiction piece. Print and bring the changes to your group next class to verify changes have been made.  This needs to be a polished piece you may want to include in your digital portfolio.
