Creative Writing 1 ~ Using a photo for writing inspiration, write the first page of a story. You must include the following: 3rd P-O-V, detail, a little bit of dialogue, sensory imagery, figurative language, avoid the verb “to be” (is, was, were, had —, has —.) This will force you to use more active verbs and more detail. Example: He was angry. If this were changed it would sound better: Angry to the point his blood pressure spiked, Tom gritted his teeth as he sorted through the plastic letters. Collect September Notebooks (30 pages, 35 for extra credit). Begin the Story Machine activity: writing from an ending. HW: Work on Story Machine. One completed fiction piece, Peer Tutored, is due Monday, October 12.
