Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Mrs. Wood is absent today. The substitute will give you several writing prompts. Pick one and show it to Mrs. Wood next class. HW: Your multiple perspectives piece is due on Wednesday. Three perspectives (about a page per perspective) of the same event. Remember, use figurative language and sensory detail in your piece. Don’t get stuck in 1st person P-O-V by telling and not showing. You must always SHOW DON’T TELL!
Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. We will be touring the UVA Art Museum on Thursday, Sept. 24. Meet in the front lobby by 9 AM. We will leave at 9:05 and return at 1:15. Bring paper, a pencil, and money for lunch. Discuss and grade the worksheet on “The Murders in the Rue Morgue.” Review the Writer’s Eye 2015 PowerPoint and writing expectations. Free time to write in class. HW: Read and complete the worksheet on “The Mystery of Marie Roget” which is due on Tues. Sept. 29. Also, your gothic fiction piece is due, typed and printed, on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
