Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write.  How are those magazine sales going?  Do you still have a Found Poem to share?  Discussion on What Makes a Good Short Story?  Discuss Flannery O’Connor and her life as a writer.  Begin reading O’Connor’s short story, “The Life You Save May Be Your Own.”  HW: Magazine sales are due by Tuesday, September 8.

Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write.  How are those magazine sales going?  Do you have any signed field trip forms to hand in?  Swap “The Fall of the House of Usher” handouts and discuss the short story.  Begin discussion of the life of Edgar Allan Poe.  Review the elements of Gothic Fiction.  HW: Magazine sales are due by Tuesday, September 8, Read “The Tell-Tale Heart” and complete the worksheet.
