Creative Writing 1~ Begin class with a ten-minute free write.  Check for completed “Flarf” poems. Discuss as a class, is this “real poetry”? Why or why not.  Distribute Sensory Detail worksheet. Distribute sensory detail poems, “This is Just to Say” and “Blueberry Pie.” Discuss sensory imagery in both. What do you see, smell, feel, taste, touch? How are these examples of good poetry?  Write a sensory imagery poem. Pick a place or event and write about it using all five senses. Maybe you want to describe a holiday dinner, a county fair, an amusement park…  HW: Finish your sensory imagery poem. December Writer’s Notebook.
