Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Collect your two Non-Fiction pieces: birthdays/celebrations and embarrassing moment. Read the story, “Nerf, Ninjas, and Beauty Products.” Discuss the Creative Non-Fiction. You must tell a true story, but show more, tell less. Use figurative language, sensory imagery, detail, precise vocabulary, just as you do in poetry and fiction. HW: Write a Fear story about a time you were scared. Don’t forget to make it suspenseful, too!
Creative Writing 2-4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Review True Grit Lesson Six. Lit Mags are here! We must distribute to those published. Select a completed spread from the server. Complete a Spread Checklist and write on the chart which spread you want Mrs. Wood to grade. HW: True Grit Lesson Seven. You must complete a ballad with a Western theme. Make sure you ballad lists the two Western elements you are included. This does not have to be set in the Old West. Maybe it’s sci-fi: an anti-hero with a mysterious past who rides a dragon (trusty steed). 1st period is due on Monday, 8th period is due on Tuesday.
