“It’s no wonder truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.” ~ Mark Twain
Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Check for completed “Three Perspectives” piece. Begin discussion on Vintage Photograph assignment. Read the handout, “Who are Those Men?” and watch a short scene from One-Hour Photo. Select a vintage photograph and “interview” your character using the Character Development Chart. Once you have completed the chart, you will have an idea for an interesting character who must overcome a conflict. Continue the story for homework and we will continue working on it for one more class period.
Creative Writing 2-4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Discuss the upcoming VHSL Regional Championship Journalism Conference to be held on Friday, October 11 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Cost of trip is $55. If you commit to going, the payment will not be expected until later. Begin writing your THEME story. You may incorporate THEME into your ATMOSPHERE story, if you prefer. Just know that your completed, typed story has to have been peer edited at the AHS Writing Center before it is due. Your final draft, typed and printed, is due on October 2 (Red Day class) or October 3 (Blue Day Class). We will begin a new prompt next class.
Filmmaking ~ Continue with the Scavenger Hunt! Today, you will learn how to use the camera and tripod before sending your group out to film various shots/angles. This is our first chance to play with the equipment as a way to get to know it better! We will continue the Scavenger Hunt next class.
