Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Distribute “Multiple Perspectives” handout. Discuss how different people view the same event differently. Choose one event and three characters from the handout. Using interesting characterization and dialogue, but avoiding stereotype, write a three-page account of the event from each different perspective. Complete for homework.
Creative Writing 2-4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute free write. Finish reading O’Connor’s short story, “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” Discuss the theme, motivation, characters, symbolism throughout the story. Next class we will finish the discussion and students will have a chance to work on a fiction piece focusing on the element of THEME. Your completed Atmosphere and/or Theme fiction piece is due to Mrs. Wood by Wednesday, October 2 (Red day classes) or Thursday, October 3 (Blue day classes).
