Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute freewrite. Share your Fractured Fairy Tale ideas. How are you going to fracture your tale? Do you have three ideas? Discuss Cinderella History. Class time to work on writing your Fractured Fairy Tale. HW: One complete, typed and printed fiction piece is due for workshop next class. Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point type.

Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute freewrite. Sign up for Ghoulie Grams sales. If you plan on going to the Scream Forest, your permission form is due by THIS FRIDAY. Collect Writer’s Eye pieces for workshop. Get in your assigned groups and work on your Radio Drama. Find a good place to stop and leave your group some notes because it will be a few weeks before we can get back to our Radio Drama podcasts.

English 9 A/A ~ Check for your HIB words: prohibit and inhibit. Finish reading “The Cask of Amontillado” (link to text and audio on the next to last screen). Complete the Irony worksheet. Discuss Verbs. Complete the Identifying Verbs worksheet. HW: Write your vocabulary cards for FUS/FOUND words: suffuse, infuse, confound.

Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute freewrite. Get in your assigned Radio Drama groups. Each person assigned a task must now go to step 2 and research your assigned position.  Once you have researched your assigned position, begin step 3 as a group, if time allows.  Radio Drama Webquest and Radio Drama/Podcast Tips sheet.

English 9 A/A ~ Collect all written 5th Day freewrites. They should be written on paper, or typed and printed. Complete “Subject/Verb Agreement 2 Practice” on noredink.com. Collective Nouns Practice. Then complete the Collective Nouns Lesson. Read “The Cask of Amontillado” pre-reading PowerPoint to understand the background of the story. Quietly listen to the audio for “The Cask of Amontillado” and follow along to the audio with the text. Work on “The Cask of Amontillado” Understanding sheet as you read along. You may make a google copy of the Understanding sheet and complete it and google share the document with Ms. Wood. We will finish the story next class.

Friday, October 6 and Monday, October 9

Creative Writing 1 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute freewrite. Use the period to work on any writing you wish to complete. If you haven’t already, you must share your flash fiction piece with Mrs. Wood on Wednesday. HW: Written 5th Day Freewrite is due next class!

Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute freewrite. Assign Radio Drama groups. Review purpose of Radio Drama unit. Here is the rubric that will be used to assess your work. Here is a Tip Sheet.  Begin work. HW: Writer’s Eye piece due October 16.

English 9 A/A ~ Take five minutes to review your Unit Two words. Complete the Unit Two Vocabulary Quiz with scantron. Log into noredink.com and complete the Subject-Verb Agreement 1 Practice: complete the lesson then complete the practice. Complete the Verbs Puzzle and the Subjects-Verbs puzzle. Creative Writing 2, 3, 4 ~ Begin class with a 10-minute freewrite. Distribute staff shirts. Finish watching the Panic surrounding Welles’s War of the Worlds broadcast. Review the Podcast Investigation handout as a class. HW: Writer’s Eye piece is due for workshop on October 16.
